Markus started his swimming career at the age of 10 with Markham Aquatic Club in Markham, Ontario but he moved the country to Delta Shortly after the start of British Columbia.
At the age of 15, he participated in the year 2013 Canadian Summer Games for Team British Columbia.
He won a bronze medal in the men’s 100 m backstrokes. He represented Canada many times on the junior international stage.
He is the youngest male in Canada’s 2013 FINA World Junior Swimming Championships team and he won five bronze medals at the 2014 Junior Pan Pacific.
Markus achieved the Delta Sport’s Hall of Fame 2014 and won the Youth Athlete of the Year and 2016 Sport BC Junior Male Athlete of the Year.
He won a silver medal in the 4×100 m freestyle relay. and after then in the summer at the 2015 FINA World Junior Swimming Championships, he was selected for Canada’s 2017 World Aquatics Championships squad in Budapest, Hungar in the year 2017 April, where he won the bronze medal for Canada in the 4 × 100 m mixed freestyle relay.
