Marilyn Monroe was born as Norma Jeane Mortenson aka “Marilyn Monroe” on June 1, 1926. Her birthplace is Los Angeles, California, U.S. 

Norma was born to her parents Gladys Pearl Baker (mother) and Charles Stanley Gifford (father). Her parents first met while Gladys working as an RKO film cutter. They married in 1925 and she gave birth to her daughter Monroe.

Gilford moved to near Hemet, California, and work as a film producer and director and ran a Californian dairy farm.

He left his daughter Norma when she was two weeks older and she grew up with her mother Gladys.

Gilford remarried in 1919 and has two children with his second wife. Gifford never accepted his daughter Monroe and he denied his daughter’s existence but she tried to meet her father Charles for the second time in 1950 and when she returned to the car where Skolsky ( Sidney Skolsky Marilyn’s friend) was waiting. Marilyn called her father a “son of a bitch”.

Norma’s mother Gladys remarried to Martin Edward Mortensen, and they divorced in 1928 after only four years of marriage.

Gladys Pearl also has Robert, born in 1917, and Berniece, born in 1919 with her second husband. Her daughter Jackie, died aged 14.

Norma’s biological father’s name is identified in a DNA test in 2022 after sixty years of her death. Norma’s father was Charles Stanley Gifford who was written in Norma’s posthumously published memoir, My Story.
